"Pari" is based on two stories by J.D.Salinger("A perfect day for Bananafish" & "Franny & Zooey")made by Dariush Mehrjui one of the superb Iranian filmmakers .He has philosophy degree from university of California and it has a strong effect on all of his works specially this one.
what make "Pari" worth watching is the fact that every single thing in the stories is converted to a native Iranian form including the names,places,ceremonies,books,poems,food ...and this is done in such a perfect way that is quit acceptable.Dramatizing of such complex drammas to a movie is really difficult job but Mehrjui managed to do it and he is succesfull.I can't see even one useless plan or dialouge in the entire movie and the origional plat is woven between the lines skilfully.The cast is exellent too.Khosro Shakibai in two roles,"Asad"and"Safa"(instead of"Seymour"and"Buddy"in the origional story)is magnificent and"Ali Mosafa"in his first important role has a great performance as"Dadashi"(Zooey) which brought him a "Fajr festival "award.The music score by Keyvan Jahanshahi is a simple, one-line melody played with Daff(an instrument like drum)penetrating your soul and stay with you a lifetime...
